# Obsidian Charts for Bases Adds a chart layout to [bases](https://help.obsidian.md/bases) so you can display notes as interactive bar or line charts. Screenshot - Switch between bar and line charts with adjustable bar width, line smoothing, area fill, and line thickness. - Select any property for the X-axis, set custom Y-axis min/max, show/hide and rotate axis labels, and customize axis line style and width. - Aggregate values by X-axis category and optionally split the result into separate series using another property. - Add reference lines with custom value, name, color, line style, and width. - Show or hide the legend and choose from 12 placement positions. - Display value labels on chart elements and override the default chart colors. ## Usage 1. Create a new view within your base and select the chart layout. 2. Open the **View Settings** to configure the **X-Axis** and select the property you want to use as a category. 3. Open the **Properties** menu in the top-right corner of the base to select the data for **Y-Axis** to be used as values. 4. Optional: in **Y-Axis**, set **Aggregation** to **Sum by X-axis** to combine rows with the same X-axis value. Use **Series by** to split the summed values into separate chart series by another property. ## Sandbox Live demos and examples of all chart layouts and configuration options are available in a sandbox vault. 1. Download [`sandbox.zip`](https://github.com/zobweyt/obsidian-charts/releases/latest/download/sandbox.zip) from the [latest release](https://github.com/zobweyt/obsidian-charts/releases/latest). 2. Extract the archive and open the folder as a vault in Obsidian. 3. Explore the notes, which serve as interactive documentation for all plugin features.
