# Tasks NL Tasks NL captures and edits tasks with natural-language input, stores them as standard Markdown, and presents them in a responsive GTD-oriented Workspace. The plugin was created especially for Dutch, but its interface is fully translated for English. Choose the settings language and add your own Dutch, English, or other recognition phrases. ## Highlights - Create or edit a task from one intuitive window, including properties and subtasks. - Recognise dates, start dates, recurrence, priorities, projects, up to two people, and configurable GTD terms. - Keep Markdown files as the source of truth; no vault conversion or proprietary task database is required. - Use Inbox, Actual, This week, 7+ days, Waiting For, Someday, Review, search, project, and person views. - Assign unique focus positions **1**, **2**, and **3** across the vault. - Flag one next action per project; selecting a new one moves the flag within that project. - Hide background tasks through configurable excluded tags and review them with **Hidden**. - Click a task row to open its Tasks NL edit window, or click the document icon to open its source Markdown file. - Select multiple Workspace tasks and change their date, priority, project, person, or GTD status together, with a guarded Undo action. - Generate configurable daily journals and weekly or monthly reviews automatically or manually. - Use custom folders, Moment filename formats, YAML properties, Markdown, review tasks, and subtasks. - Insert live focus 1β3 and project-next-action lists into the daily journal with optional DataviewJS blocks. - Work on desktop, iPad, and phone with a responsive Workspace. ## Natural-language task capture Run **Tasks NL: Create or edit task** from the Command Palette or ribbon. For example: ```text Organize a brainstorm for a new website John tomorrow web high ``` Tasks NL can translate the configured person, date, project, and priority into a standard task line such as: ```markdown - [ ] Organize a brainstorm for a new website β« π 2026-08-30 #John #Web ``` The exact output follows your recognition dictionaries. Input phrases can be configured independently of the selected Dutch or English interface language. ## GTD Workspace
The Workspace combines date-based sections with GTD statuses, reviews, search, and project or person filters. A task can appear in more than one relevant section. Actual contains tasks due through tomorrow and tasks whose configured start-to-due period overlaps today or tomorrow.
Focus positions are stored as hidden task metadata rather than hashtags. Each position can belong to only one task. The project flag is available for tasks with a configured project and identifies one next action per project.
Use the multi-edit icon in the Workspace header to select several tasks. The bulk bar can update dates, priorities, projects, people, and GTD statuses. Undo restores only files that have not changed since the bulk operation, protecting newer edits.
Excluded tags keep background tasks out of the regular sections except Actual. **Hidden** shows the hidden root tasks, grouped by the matching excluded tag; their subtasks do not become separate Hidden rows.
## Day, week, and month formats
Each format offers a **Yes/No** choice for automatic creation. Daily journals are checked at startup or reload, weekly reviews on the selected weekday, and monthly reviews on the last selected weekday of the month. Existing files are never overwritten and newly generated files open immediately.
You can configure the destination folder, Moment filename format, YAML properties, free Markdown, a main review task, and review subtasks. Known codes work with single or double braces:
```text
{TASKS} {DATE} {DAY} {WEEK} {MONTH} {MONTH_NUMBER}
{YEAR} {FILENAME} {REVIEW_TYPE}
```
The same variables also work as `{{DATE}}`, `{{FILENAME}}`, and so on. A separate Template Manager plugin is not required. Dataview is only needed if you enable the live focus 1β3 or project-next-action lists in a daily journal. Weekly and monthly review tasks use `#tasks-nl-review` and appear in the Workspace Review section.
